What is the 3:2:1 haircut rule?
The 3:2:1 rule refers to clipper guard sizes used to create a clean tapered buzz cut. A #3 guard on top,
a #2 on the sides, and a #1 around the neckline and temples. The result is a smooth graduation from
short to shorter that sits at the foundation of most modern fades. It is a reliable starting point, though
your stylist will adjust the guards based on your head shape and how tight you want the taper.
What is the seven day haircut rule?
The 7-day haircut rule is something every Avalon client notices. For the first seven days after your appointment, your shape holds clean, your lines stay sharp, and your hair sits exactly where it should. After that, natural growth starts to soften the edges. That is normal. It is also why we recommend booking every four to six weeks so the cut keeps performing the way it left the chair.
